Cathy Griffin is best known as an author, reporter and television producer. For fifteen years, she was the West Coast leg woman for syndicated entertainment columnist Liz Smith.
Griffin's own by lined column "Society Bytes" appeared for eight years in the tony glossy magazine, "Los Angeles Confidential." Previously, her weekly columns appeared in "Beverly Hills 213" and Las Vegas' "Showbiz Magazine."
Griffin was the Los Angeles Bureau Chief for the Australian publication "New Idea" from 1999-2006. During 2004-2006, she was Editor-at-Large of Bauer Publication's "Life and Style" magazine.
Culling her eclectic experience and vast contacts from 35 years as a journalist and over two decades as a licensed private detective, Griffin founded Page One Consultants, a media consulting firm in 2006.
Upon arriving in Los Angeles in 1988 following a broadcast news career in Texas, she created a niche for finding the subjects of the breaking news stories before the tv networks and worldwide news agencies could get to them. She brokered the interviews through her own production company.
As an author, Griffin's book Crowning Glory: Reflections of Hollywood's Favorite Confidant, the memoirs of famed hairstylist to the stars, Sydney Guilaroff, was published in 1996.
Her tenacity and extensive research talents continue to be sought out by many of the world's best selling biographers for the 'hard-to-get' interviews for their celebrity books. Among the authors she has worked for on numerous Hollywood titles are J. Randy Taraborrelli, C. David Heyman, Peter Harry Brown, James Spada and Ellis Amburn.
In 1993, Griffin persuaded movie star Elizabeth Taylor to grant unprecedented access to her famous friends for a one-hour documentary for the Arts and Entertainment's Biography series. The documentary depicting the life of the legendary actress, which Griffin wrote and produced, earned the cable network its largest ratings at the time. It has been broadcast worldwide, receiving high praise at the Cannes Film Festival. In 1997, Griffin was hired by Tall Pony Productions as a consultant for the production of Ms. Taylor's 65th birthday party which aired on the ABC Network.
Her producing credits include segments for Extra, Hard Copy, A Current Affair, Geraldo's Now It Can Be Told, ABC's Prime Time Live, The Montel Williams Show, The Jerry Springer Show, and Four Point Entertainment's The Kitty Kelley Show.
Griffin has appeared as a celebrity correspondent on Entertainment Tonight, CNN's Showbiz Tonight, MSNBC's Headliners and Legends with Matt Lauer, E Entertainment Channel, CBS' Day and Date, the Jenny Jones Show, and The Joan Rivers Show.
